Land Acknowledgement

plastic orchid factory’s artistic endeavours unfold on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. We recognize the historical and systemic oppression that Indigenous communities face across Turtle Island, and work to integrate practices and protocols that acknowledge the legacy of colonial oppression.

Decolonization is an every day project, and we encourage everyone on Turtle Island to consider their relationship to the land they inhabit, to reflect on the history that has led to our current moment and on the better futures Indigenous Peoples have been imagining and creating since the beginning.

How did you come to be here? What do you know about the land? Do you know what stewardship means? Does it play a meaningful role in your life, or do you only think about it when you see a post like this or hear a land acknowledgement at an event? What are you doing each and every day to challenge the authority and the narratives of the colonial government and systems that continue to enact genocide?

Let this be an invitation to remember our complicity and reaffirm our solidarity…
