For on the Floor is an immersive dance/theatre experience that centres the transfer of memory and experience through the transformative properties of vintage clothing. Spectator/performer lines are blurred as audience and cast alike embark on their own transformation within the space.
Josh “Jammin” Cameron is a 4th generation settler born and raised on the unceded territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Qayqat, and Tsawwassen First Nations. Josh began his dance journey as a Bboy in 2008, able to pursue Breaking and a wide variety of dance styles as hobbies and later as a career thanks enormously to the Black and Latinx pioneers who created them. Since 2019 Josh has embarked on various avenues of Stage and Contemporary which has culminated in his involvement in disseminating work that utilizes the strengths of multiple methodologies of Street and Contemporary Dance to create work for stage and film.
Sophia “SOSA” Laurio is a Filipina born and raised artist and a first-generation immigrant residing in the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tseil Watuth Nations. At age 13, she moved to Vancouver, Canada where she was discovered by her first dance mentor, Angela Lowndes. From there, Sophia embarked on her journey of becoming a full pledged performing artist. With a decade of training under the guidance of performers like Jeri Chien, Victor Tran, Kenny Mugisha (Now or Never Crew), Deni Kang (Black Mamba Crew), Mikhail Venom Moris (Dancehall Donz), Elite Force Crew (NYC), Mr. YouTube (NYC), PyroTechs (NYC), she infuses many styles of Streetdance. Sophia currently trains in a plethora of styles including Hip Hop, House, Dancehall, Popping and Afro fusion. She is well versed in freestyle dance and has won and judged battles all over the lower mainland.
